Happy Friday everyone! This week flew by for me and I'm so happy that it's finally Friday and I get to spend the weekend with my wonderful husband. While he's busy I wanted to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday linky.
It was bi-weekly assessment time for me this week. I spent all day Monday and part of the day Tuesday testing my 45 students to see what gains they have made. I've been so busy this week that I didn't even have time to grade them. This weekend will consist of grading and recording the data.
My little first graders are really struggling with phonics =( They know their ABCs but they have a hard time recognizing letter names and sounds outside of the songs. Each period we view a quick 2 minute or less video over a specific letter and it's sound. At this point in the year, I don't even have to tell them to come in and have a seat on the carpet. As soon as I unlock my door they rush over to the carpet and wait for the video to begin. They really like this little break in their day and they don't even think of it as work.
I've been busy this week working on a super secret product for a super secrete blog hop! Grab your calendars and mark these dates; you will not want to miss this awesome blog hop. I'm teaming up with Caral from Comprehension Connections, Stacy and Colleen from The Rungs of Reading, and joining approximately 25 other reading specialist to create a Super Sleuths Blog Hop that will blow your mind. During the hop you will pick up new reading strategies and tips along with some great freebies to help you implement these tips. Don't forget to pick up your mystery letter from each blog to enter our super secrete giveaway at the end! Click the picture above to get a little peek at who will be participating and what to expect during the hop.
Hope you all have a restful and awesome weekend!

Love the idea of a pocket folder in your interactive notebook. Gotta try it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're part of the hop, Shannon! I like the IN idea too.

What a cute way to use the pockets! Great way for them to keep their words organized too!
