My First Teaching Position: Title I Teacher

Hello blog land! It's been a long time since I've done a post. I've been so busy these past 4 months: I got engaged, I'm planning a wedding, I started subbing in my county, and then I got my first teaching job! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was when I got called in for an interview as a 3rd grade teacher. I was so nervous and so excited that I didn't even know what to do with myself. I nailed the interview and was told that I would be contacted shortly. Well, they did contact me but to tell me that the teacher who was already in that class wanted to keep teaching 3rd grade but that they had another position open, a Title I Teacher position. I've heard of Title I but I didn't realize that they had special positions for certain schools. I asked every question imaginable and finally decided that it would be a great experience and something that I would love to do. I have been a Title I teacher for 3 weeks now. I am responsible for helping small groups of "At Risk" students, in grades K-5, with Reading, ELA, and Math.

So, the purpose of this blog is now to help you, me, and any other Title I, EIP, or Small Group Teacher. It's been a long 3 weeks to say the least! I have been looking over CRCT scores, unit tests, reading scores, and math scores (all that the teachers have emailed me and I don't even have everyone's) to try to create a list of the most at risk students in the school. I've been trying to create lessons, assessments, and activities that will help each of these children in all 6 grade levels. I have been trying to stay sane! If you are a Title I Teacher, or other small group teacher, I hope that as I try to figure out what works best for me I can also help all of you. I'll keep you posted on ideas, websites, blogs, and activities that I'm finding helpful. If  you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
